My dog Stella was having a medical emergency, and our regular veterinarian recommended emergency surgery but wasn’t able to perform it that day. They referred us to CAVES, and I’m so grateful they did.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was compassionate and helpful during a very stressful situation. The doctor took the time to walk me through everything clearly, and I received multiple updates throughout the night after Stella’s surgery, which gave me a lot of reassurance.
It was obvious that Stella was well cared for and that the team genuinely cares about both the animals and the work they do. As stressful as the experience was, I knew she was in good hands the entire time.
Yes, the cost was high, but it’s an emergency clinic, and that’s something you have to be prepared for. For the level of care and communication we received, I’m very thankful to the entire team.
I do not recommend this clinic. I am very disappointed, as they did not help my cat in a critical situation. In my opinion, the veterinary team was not competent, and their decisions could have been dangerous for animals.
They suggested performing an abdominal ultrasound under sedation on a critically ill cat with a temperature of 106.9°F, which I believe was not appropriate given the severity of the condition. In an emergency setting, animals should receive immediate stabilization and urgent care first, but I did not feel this was the approach taken. The doctor also completely ignored the cat’s medical history, which is extremely concerning in an emergency case.
I am very glad I was able to refuse their recommendation, and my cat is now completely fine, active, playful and happy again. I am sharing this to warn others to be cautious and, in my opinion, to avoid this clinic.
Wonderful experience!
The staff were phenomenal and went above and beyond for my (unexpectedly) very sick French Bulldog, who needed immediate surgery we weren’t aware of. I am very thankful for all the care you have showed us. She is doing much better and still with us due to your attention to detail and urgency.
Forever grateful!
Early this morning my dog was having what might've been a seizure or a stroke, and I knew he was gone before we even called CAVES but wanted the closure. They got us right in at 5 am and the woman working there was so incredibly friendly and sweet and made the process so much easier. She walked us through everything and gave us that closure that we needed. We got to spend some time with his body and say goodbye before leaving him there to rest. The whole process was very well done, they were upfront with things, we were only charged for the cremation. Last time there was an emergency with my late dog it seemed liked none of the emergency vets would let us come in, so I am beyond grateful they answered our call and got us right in. Losing a beloved pet is never easy, but CAVES made it a bit more bearable. Thank you 🧡
VCA Capitals emergency and ICU took amazing care of my dog, gave us frequent updates, explained each test, diagnosis and treatment plans. There was no pressure to do anything. They presented the facts and options with compassion and understanding. I am certain my dog would not be home with me tonight if it weren’t for them. I am grateful my 4 year old was able to see his “Brudder” again. Dog owners know they are an important part of our family & that is exactly how they treated our pup. Thank you so much VCA
Update 4/29/2026: We lost our beautiful, loving doggie in December. We are so thankful VCA gave up 8 month of love and snuggles. He was able to almost get back to himself (as an old man). We were happy we got to celebrate his 14th birthday together,
Thank you again, I am forever grateful to VCA and staff
